Beginning your witchy journey is an exciting time for a new witch. And the number one question we all ask ourselves as new witches is what type of witch am I?

It can be a challenge as a new witch trying to find what path is best for you. But, in my opinion, you do not need to put yourself into any category of witch. At least not right away (or not at all if you prefer).
Let me explain. When beginning your witchcraft journey, you may have some idea as to what you want to work with in your practice, whether it be herbs, crystals, or candles. But I suggest learning and trying out all types of different things.
You may end up in the beginning only wanting to work with herbs but later find out that you enjoy astrology and want to incorporate that into your practice as well.
Keep an open mind when starting off. Learn as much as you can about everything that interests you and remember that your witchcraft practice is a journey and not a destination.
Take your time, and do not feel the need to learn everything all at once. With time you will be able to figure out if you follow a set path like the ones listed below, or you find your own path that is perfect just for you.
Type of Witch
The Green Witch
A green witch or a garden witch, is a witch that connects and works with nature. This type of witch uses plants, flowers and herbs in their magical workings. Although the origins of the green witch are unknown, it can be guessed that this type of witch has been around since the beginning of time. Learn more.
The Hedge Witch
The hedge witch has much in common with the green witch and the kitchen witch. But the hedge witch hovers the boundaries of the natural world and the spiritual world. Some of their practice involves divination and connecting to the spirits of nature, ancestors and themselves. Learn more.
The Kitchen Witch
A kitchen witch is someone who focuses their practices in the heart of the home, the kitchen. Cooking from scratch, cooking with fresh ingredients, and preserving their food. With every chop and every stir of the ladle, a kitchen witch pours their intentions into the food they prepare. Learn more.
The Eclectic Witch
A personal practice that is true to you and no one else. Eclectic witches are one of the most popular types of witch in modern times. Many like to follow this path because of the complete freedom it allows. There are no rules when you are an eclectic witch. Learn more.
The Chaos Witch
A chaos witch is a witch that doesn’t follow “standard” practices. Much like an eclectic witch, a chaos witch follows their own path. This is a path of experimentation and creativity. They are constantly learning new things and embrace change at all times. Learn more.
The Urban Witch
An urban witch is a witch that resides in big cities. Although witchcraft in the city can be a challenge, it is not impossible. The urban witch is creative and thinks outside of the box to make their practice work. Learn more.
The Hearth Witch
A hearth witch, also known as a cottage witch, is a witch that connects with nature in and around their home. Bringing the elements into their home and making the home warm and nourishing for all who live there or come to visit. Learn more.
