There are many plants and flowers used throughout time for a multitude of reasons and the aloe vera plant is no different. The ancient Egyptians used the aloe plant in their embalming methods. Aloe vera has many medicinal properties as well as some magical properties.

aloe vera plant whole leaves and sliced open leaves

This succulent plant is a member of the Lily family and is a perennial, meaning that it will grow back every year. Many know the aloe vera as having long green leaves with serrated edges and little white teeth along the edges of the leaves. Some aloe species have small stems or none at all, come in a green or sometimes a greenish-gray color, and may even have white speckles on the leaves.

Aloe Vera Magical Uses in the Home

Many people have this beloved plant in their home, and it is not hard to figure out why. There are a number of reasons why so many keep this plant.

  • Little to no maintenance. This plant does not need much light or water, making it the perfect beginner plant. Even if you are notorious for killing every plant you own, it would be hard to take this one out.
  • Purifies the air. By taking the CO2 out of the air, it converts it to oxygen and continues to work throughout the night. Keeping this plant in the bedroom will purify your air and may help you get a better nights sleep.
  • Prevents household accidents. One of aloe vera’s magical uses is believed to prevent household accidents such as fires or floods. Not a bad idea to have extra home insurance.
  • Absorbs negative energies. It is believed that the aloe plant can absorb the negative energies in the environment around it. A great way to cleanse your space and in turn may cleanse your mind.
  • Protection from The Evil Eye. Never take the chance that someone may cast you the “evil glare”. Having this plant in your home can help protect you from magical attacks as well as any negative influences that may be sent your way.

Hang fresh or dried in your doorway to drive away evil and negative energies.

Aloe Vera Magical Health Benefits

Are you ready for the extensive list of health benefits? There are around 500 species of aloe, but only 3-4 of them have medicinal properties. Two parts of this plant are used. There is the gel that is found inside the leaves and then there is a yellow sticky part located just below the leaf’s skin. Using aloe is believed to accelerate healing.
